I completely missed how big Commander got since it’s release in 2011. When I first came to my LGS this year and saw some old duals I got excited for a second because I thought there were Legacy players (my main format before 2010). Of course those people were playing Commander as everyone else before the FNM started. Even then, there were a lot of people that used the remaining tables for Commander pods.

Since everyone seemed very nice at my LGS, I decided that I want to give Commander a try despite my aversion against multiplayer formats. Instead of buying a Commander precon, I wanted to build my own deck. One of the reasons was that I wanted to build a mono colored deck to not have to feel bad about a suboptimal mana base. Also, I didn’t want to include any proxies since I wasn’t sure what the overall opinion on those at my LGS is. I addition, I didn’t really know anything power level at my LGS so I tried to not include any real Combos like Chain of Smog and Professor Onyx.
